Kingmaker Game Guide
There’s a historical look to the design in Kingmaker. The reels are set against a backdrop of green fields, snow-capped mountains and an impressive castle. On the reels are A to 9 symbols as well as a quartet of higher paying gemstones, each embossed with a mythical creature which appears on their house’s banner.
The best symbol is the purple dragon stone. Land 2, 3, 4 or 5 of these on adjoining reels for a payout of 0.75, 1, 1.5 or 10 times your bet. The wild replaces all of the standard symbols when it hits on reels 2, 3, 4 or 5.
As usual for a MegaWays video slot, the number of symbols appearing on each reel varies from between 2 and 7 on each spin. This means the number of ways to create a winning combination changes too. If the reels reach their maximum configuration, you’ll have 16,807 ways to create a winner. There are a couple of extras to note in Kingmaker.
Gemstone Multipliers feature – land a 5 of a kind winner made up of one of the gemstone symbols and it increases a multiplier by 1x. Next time you land a winner featuring that symbol, it’s boosted by the multiplier. The multipliers are shown on the 4 banners to the left of the reels. These base game multipliers all reset to 1x when you trigger the Free Spins feature.
Free Spins feature – this round is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 of the crown scatter on the same spin. A payout of 4, 20 or 250 times your bet is then made. You’ll also receive 7, 12 or 20 free spins. The Gemstone Multipliers from the base game are carried over to the feature and will act as your starting multiplier in the free spins. If you had a 7x multiplier on each banner, you would play with a 28x multiplier!
Each 5 of a kind winner landed during the free spins increases that figure by 1x. You can add more free spins to your total here too by landing 3 or more crown scatters on the same free spin – there’s up to 40 free spins to be won in total.
We enjoyed Kingmaker. The imagery is simple but decent enough and backed by a sweeping soundtrack which is a good fit. The gameplay isn’t overly complex but the MegaWays mechanic and the multipliers keep the base game ticking over nicely. Carry over a big multiplier to the free spins and the action can really start to fly.

MegaWays video slots are becoming more and more popular. Kingmaker is a relatively simple example. It works rather well though and is certainly a game to consider if you’ve enjoyed other games in the MegaWays series. If you like MegaWays titles, there’s plenty to choose from – if you like the medieval fee, you cannot go wrong with WMS’ Black Knight II.
