There are 14 new home developments in Wasaga Beach, a mix of high-rise and low-rise that are planned, under construction or recently completed. Of these, 1 are condo developments. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited (“Gateway”) announced today that it proposes to build a new casino on a 7.
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited announced Apr. 4 that it plans to build a new casino on a 7.5-acre parcel of land adjacent to the Mosley St. roundabout at Lyons Court and Beachwood Rd. in the west end of Wasaga Beach.
Construction for the proposed new casino, which will feature several amenities including slots and table games, is expected to begin this spring and open in the summer of 2020 pending the necessary government approvals and completion of the land transaction.
At a previous town council meeting, the town named the new site as one of five possible locations for the new casino.
“We are thrilled that Gateway has settled on a site that will best meet its business needs and we look forward to the construction phase starting,” Wasaga Beach Mayor Nina Bifolchi said in a statement. “We know that Gateway has a tremendous track record in its industry, they are truly leaders, and we look forward to a strong and positive relationship with them in Wasaga Beach.”
Over the next few weeks, Gateway will also announce more details on the size and scope of the new development, including new employment opportunities, food and beverage offerings and the investment in the local economy for the new facility.
